Grant died peacefully at Providence Hospital in Milwaukie on February 6, 2018. He was 71 years old. He was born in White Plains, NY to Grant C. and Barbara Angell and his family moved to California when he was two. They then moved to Oregon in 1954, and he grew up in southeast Portland and Milwaukie. He attended both Marshall and Milwaukie High Schools, and after graduation he attended Multnomah Community College.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, which had a profound influence in his life. After leaving active service Grant joined the Oregon Guard Reserve where he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He volunteered his services in support of all veterans, especially Vietnam veterans, and was a driving force in erecting the memorial for fallen soldiers which stands in front of Milwaukie High School.
He focused his professional life on security services and systems. He taught security, fire and optical alarm systems classes at Clackamas Community College. He started and developed Limited Energy Resources, a successful company that trained installation technicians by providing both classroom and online courses in low voltage electronics.
Grant is survived by his son, Grant W. Angell; step-daughter, Amanda Allen; brother, Curtis Angell; cousin, Emily Hernandez; and many friends and associates. He will be missed by all who knew him.
