Arden passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 88.
He was born on December 20, 1936, to Bea and Otto Munson in South Dakota. The family moved west to Oregon and settled in North Portland. Arden graduated from Roosevelt High School and then enlisted in the US Army where he was honorably discharged. He got his Bachelor's degree in education from Pacific Lutheran University and his Master's degree from the University of Portland.
Arden dearly loved the Crossword Puzzle in the Oregonian and played it every day. He and his wife, Liz participated in many golf tournaments all over Oregon, and they were really successful at winning.
Arden and Liz moved to the Rock Creek community when the area was just being developed, even though Liz thought the area was too far from Portland. They lived on Columbia Street in Rock Creek for the next 55 years, overlooking the Golf course.
Arden was a teacher with Portland Public Schools for 30 plus years. He taught at Grout and Multnomah Elementary as a PE and History Teacher and later Coached sports at Wilson High School.
Arden leaves behind the delight and love of his life, his two sons, Greg (Pat) and Bob (Holly); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his only sibling, Judy Hague (Russ) and their three children.
A private service is planned and then he and his wife of 60 plus years will once again be together forever at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
