Betty Jane Lynch, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Costa Mesa, California, after a brief period of hospice care.
Born on February 10, 1935, in Anaheim, California, Betty was the youngest of seven children of Albert and Mary Burgess. She spent her early years in Anaheim and Fullerton in Orange County. In 1952, shortly after graduating from high school, she married Robert Reid. Together they had two children, Mark and Kathy, before later divorcing.
In 1968, Betty married Patrick Lynch. Their marriage spanned 54 years until Patrick's passing in 2022. Together they built a blended family and a life marked by love and resilience.
Betty dedicated two decades of service as an executive secretary at the Orange County Assessor's Office. Outside of work, she enjoyed reading, following tennis, and sharing her culinary talents, especially her homemade fudge sauce served over vanilla ice cream, a treat cherished by family and guests alike.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen (Burgess) DeVries of Berkeley, California; children, Mark Reid (Janna), Kathy Fluch (Jim), and Virginia Lynch; seven grandchildren, Alec, Robert, Brian, Connor, Matthew, Rachel, and John; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10am, September 4, 2025, at New Life Church, West Linn, Oregon. A private family graveside service will follow at Willamette National Cemetery, where Betty will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
Betty will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
