Dorothy Ann Jones, born on October 9, 1940, in Seattle, Washington, passed away on November 5, 2024, in Milwaukie, Oregon. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She was the daughter of George Augustus Bauer and Selena Goren Bauer. Her father, George died in 1945 while serving on the USS Bunker Hill. Following his death, her mother remarried, Solomon "Solly" Solonsky, who embraced the role of a father figure in Dorothy’s life.
Growing up in Astoria, Oregon, she graduated from Astoria High School in June 1958. Dorothy continued her education at Lewis & Clark College before completing her degree at Oregon State University. She was a stay-at-home mom until the mid-1980s; at which time, she decided to return to school to learn Spanish. This led to a career at Linn-Benton Community College. There, she worked as a Spanish tutor, helping Spanish-speaking individuals learn English.
On June 30, 1961, Dorothy married Richard K. Jones II, and together they built a life filled with love and support. The couple moved through various locations, including North Albany, Alsea, and Corvallis, before finally settling in Oak Grove, Oregon.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Steve (Darcy), Vince, and Dori; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her niece, Georgean Wiley, and nephews, Richard and Daniel Waisanen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2022.
Dorothy enjoyed painting, reading, word games, sewing, and exploring new languages.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Stehn Family Chapels Milwaukie Tribute Center, Milwaukie, Oregon.
