Dorothy “Dot” Street

Born in the midst of the Great Depression in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Dot Bryan Street had a challenging childhood. A neighbor gave her a dress so she would have a new one to wear her first day of school. Her father, a victim of an industrial accident, struggled to provide for the family.

Dot worked as a ticket taker at the Perkasie movie theater while she was in high school at Sell-Perk. After graduation she would take the trolly to Telford where she was employed as an evening shift telephone operator. She worked at the De Luxe sweater mill in Sellersville, the Bucks Co Bank as a teller, and delivered prescriptions for the Sellersville Pharmacy. She developed a following while cooking at Foxes Grocery behind the deli counter. Several decades later social media still references her potato salad as special.

Through it all she relied on her faith to cope with the challenges of life.

In 1970, a group of women at Trinity Lutheran Church started a Thanksgiving meal tradition to feed the less fortunate which went on for decades and was acknowledged by a feature article in the News-Herald. Mom also played a key role in organizing a welcome home parade and celebration for local service men and women who had fought in the first Iraqi war. Mom and Dad prepared the community dinner every Friday at the Owls Club for years and both logged extensive volunteer time for the Perkasie Fire Department.

Dorothy passed away at her son’s home in Portland, Oregon, on Monday June 15th, 2026. Every Sunday at 9:30 she would stream the Trinity Church service as the longest living member of the congregation.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, James Bryan; and cousins and nephews on her maternal side of the family; along with her son; and two adult grandchildren, Samuel and Matthew Street.
