Elinor Kuhns, 87, passed away peacefully November 21. Born in Lebanon, OR to Eva and Virgil Childs, she was raised in Albany. In 1944 she married Glenn E. Kuhns, who was stationed at nearby Camp Adair during World War II. After the war, they moved to Vanport, OR, where they lost most of their belongings in the 1948 flood that wiped out the city. From there they moved to the Brotje House in Milwaukie while awaiting the construction of a new home in the Oak Grove area. She and Glenn reared four children, Craig, Scott, Lisa, and Todd. As the children grew, Elinor took an active role in church, school, and community affairs. She was particularly involved in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 60 years. There she served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, Sunday Secretary, Church Trustee, Wedding Coordinator, and myriad other positions. Additionally, Elinor was involved in numerous other organizations, including the Oak Grove Garden Club, Oregon Symphony Women\u0027s Auxiliary, Campfire Girls, North Clackamas School District Advisory Board, Oak Grove Community Council, League of Women Voters, Clackamas County Election Board, and P.E.O. Elinor was also interested in gardening, flower arranging, sewing, needlepoint, cooking, cake decorating, tole painting, and traveling. She and Glenn took the family on many outings, including frequent trips to the beach and a yearly summer camping trip. Elinor took great pride in her home, the historic Charles Risley House, where she lived from 1964 until her move to Rose Villa last year. She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband Glenn in 2002.
