Florence Kay Patrick

Florence Kay Patrick, known to everyone simply as Kay, passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by her children. Kay was born on August 3, 1948, in Medford, Oregon, to Alfonse and Mabel Pawlowski. She grew up in Medford and, after starting her family, made her home in the Milwaukie area for the rest of her life.

After graduating with her bachelor’s degree from OSU, Kay spent her early adult years as a devoted stay-at-home mother to her five children. Later in life, she returned to school to become a Registered Nurse through OHSU. Beginning in the late 1990s, she worked as an RN for the VA administration.

Faith was at the center of Kay's life. She was a longtime member of Athey Creek Church, where she found community, and she spent many years participating in Bible Study Fellowship. She was also part of a swimming group that met regularly. Every Wednesday, right up until the week before she died, a group of close friends gathered at her house for games - games that, it should be noted, she very much intended to win.

Kay's home was a haven for birds; her yard was filled with feeders and fountains for them to visit and bathe in. She loved her dogs, found joy in quilting, and never turned down a good board game. Anyone who ever walked into her kitchen knew to expect one thing immediately: "Wash your hands!"

Kay is survived by her five children, Nicole Shaw, Thad “Pat” Patrick, Amy Patrick, Russell Patrick, and Randall Patrick; grandchildren, Casey and Eleanor Shaw, Blaine, Josiah, Jesse, and Kyle Patrick, Kalel Bekofsky, Oliver, Hamilton, and Huxley Patrick; and beloved brother, Norman Pawlowski. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Alfonse Pawlowski; and brother, Floyd Pawlowski.

A service celebrating Kay's life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Good Roots Community Church in Oak Grove, followed by a table game reception - a fitting way to honor a woman who loved nothing more than gathering the people she loved around a table.
