A funeral was held at Willamette National Cemetery on Monday, May 5, 2025 in Portland for Janet (Jan) Cranor, who died on April 26 at the age of 85.
Janet was born January 21, 1940 in Sedro Woolley, Washington. She was the 3rd child of Sebern and Mildred Mehl.
Her family moved to Tacoma and then to a farm in Blaine. At the age of 8, Janet lost her dad to cancer. Mildred remarried in 1954 and Janet and her sister, Arlene moved with them to Gladstone Oregon, while her brother, Merle, stayed in Washingon. Janet graduated from West Linn High School in 1958.
Janet (Jan) married Dennis (Denny) in 1961. They lived in Jennings Lodge after they were married. Soon after, they moved to a rental house in Portland. It was there that they had two children (Julie and Kenneth).
Although Jan was a stay at home mom for many years when the kids were young she held positions and First National Bank/First Interstate Bank, McKee Pontiac, North Clackamas Community Schools, Bar Supply Brokerage and Golden’s Bar Supply
Jan lost Denny in 1986. She herself later battled and survived breast cancer. Jan had a few long term male companions, Douglas Worth and Monte Thoen, who were important parts of her life. She however, never remarried.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Ryan); son, Kenneth; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
