Jon Scott Cummings known to most simply as Scott passed away on October 11, 2026, at the age of 74, at his home in Portland, Oregon.
Scott was born on April 21, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to Clardon and Agnes Cummings. He was the middle of three children, growing up alongside his older brother, Don, and younger sister, Carol Sue.
He attended Gilbert Park Primary School, Alice Ott Middle School, and David Douglas High School, where he was a member of the swim team.
After high school, Scott attended Mt. Hood Community College, earning a degree in Food Processing Technology. Although he initially pursued a career in that field, he eventually found his calling in the electrical trade. After earning his Journeyman’s license he built a lifelong career as an electrician working many of those years alongside his brother.
One of the most important parts of Scott’s life was his Christian faith. He met Debbie Sturdevant at Milwaukie First Baptist now GracePointe Church and they married April 2, 1977. They raised their three children in the Portland area. Scott enjoyed time with family, working out at the gym, and being outdoors walking whenever he could. He also spent a significant amount of time volunteering in different areas of the church throughout his life.
Scott was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a quiet, humble, hardworking man with a caring heart, a strong faith, and a subtle, witty sense of humor.
Scott is survived by his wife, Debbie Cummings; children, Alicia Belles, Aimee Cripps (James), and Max Cummings (Alexandra); grandchildren, Mason, Kade, Drew, Makenna, Adelyn, Bryson, and Ollie; siblings, Don Cummings and Carol Sue Sayre.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2026 at GracePointe Church, 10750 SE 42nd Ave, Milwaukie, Oregon. Small reception to follow.
