Lynn Miller moved from here to there on June 17, 2026, in Portland, Oregon. She was 81.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister; and two brothers. She leaves behind friends who became family. She also leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, grace, humility, compassion, integrity, and a love that many of us have come to lean on.
She used her drop of water in this astronomically large ocean to show up for others, to make life a little better, and to reduce suffering where she could. She loved well. She smiled beautifully. She listened with her heart. I will miss that drop.
She loved Mary Oliver, I think she'd like us to think about these lines from "In Blackwater Woods":
Every year everything I have ever learned in my lifetime leads back to this: the fires and the black river of loss whose other side is salvation, whose meaning none of us will ever know. To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go.
