Richard Michael Hodge passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, in Portland, Oregon. He was born on October 31, 1949, to Bernice and Wayne Hodge.
Richard grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon, and attended Milwaukie High School. After graduation, he attended barber college and worked in his Uncle Harlow Ludviksen’s barber shop, Swedes, in Raleigh Hills. In 1970, Richard was drafted into the United States Army and served in Korea for 13 months before receiving an honorable discharge in 1971. Following his military service, he spent many years working in the trucking industry, both locally and long-haul, until his retirement.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Melody; sons, Jeffrey (Deb) and Bradley; cherished granddaughters, Caitlyn and Kendal; brothers, Robert (Jan) and Roger (Sandra); niece, Laurie; nephews, Roger II (Shani), Nathan (Abby), and Logan; and great-nephew, Ollie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Wayne Hodge.
Richard enjoyed fishing, camping, and trips to the Oregon coast. He loved watching NASCAR races, golf, and hockey, and he was a lifelong Elvis fan. He was also a proud member of the VFW Martin J. Ryan Post 2666 in Hillsboro.
A Funeral Service will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Stehn Family Chapels Milwaukie Tribute Center, Milwaukie, Oregon; followed by a Cemetery Service with Military Honors, 2:30 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
