Sharon Lee Akers

Sharon Lee Akers (Gray, Griffin) born June 9, 1939, and passed away in her home May16, 2026, from cancer. She was 86 years old.

Sharon was born in Eugene, Oregon to Leonard and Iris Gray. She grew up in Portland, Oregon, graduating from Franklin High School in 1957; where she participated in many clubs, sports and activities. Sharon began her career with Fred Meyer in 1960, working in their corporate office. She enjoyed her years working at Freddy’s retiring in 1998.

Sharon married, Bill Griffin in 1959 and together they had two children, Scott and Sue; divorcing in 1967. In 1972 she married the love of her life, Don Akers whom she remained married to for over 53 years until her passing. Together with her two children and Don’s two children, Julie and Jeff; they built a family in Oak Grove, Oregon.

She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Scott Griffin and Sue (Jim) Bispham; Don's children, Julie Toney and Jeff (Shelley) Akers; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Sharon enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She created many afghans and baby blankets for friends, neighbors and family to enjoy. Throughout the years, Sharon donated many of her baby blankets to new mothers at area hospitals and shelters.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
