With deep love and cherished remembrance, we honor the life of Steven Mark Sims, who was born on August 31, 1944, in Illinois to Herbert E. and Violet S. Sims.
Steven attended Grant High School and later pursued his studies at Portland State University. At the age of 18, he met the love of his life, Marilyn, with whom he shared a remarkable bond of love and devotion. They were blessed to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this past February 20th. A testament to their enduring love.
Together, Steve and Marilyn built a beautiful life in Milwaukie, Oregon, where they raised four children and were later blessed with seven grandchildren. He is lovingly survived by his children, Patrick Sims and wife, Carol, Katie Vadelund and husband, Rich, Alice Wacker and husband, Joe, and Tory Carney and husband, Patrick. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Zack, Caleb, Faith, Grace, Alex, Logan, and Emily.
Steve spent his career working for Safeway Warehouse. Outside of work, he found true joy in the simple pleasures of life—family beach trips, drive-in movies, and fun days at the park. A passionate outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed hunting and sharing nature with those he loved.
Deeply involved in his community, Steve served as a coach for numerous youth sports teams, including football, basketball, and softball. To many, he will always be affectionately remembered as “Coach Sims.”
A man of deep faith, Steve was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie, where he served as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and as a religious education teacher.
Steven was welcomed into eternal rest on August 13, 2025. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Larry Sims.
