Obituary
David passed away peacefully at home with his family Jan. 17, 2023, in Milwaukie, Ore.
David Dwight Grimes was born March 31, 1945, to Philo and Ellanora Grimes in Portland, Ore. He was the oldest of four children and the only son. David was a union carpenter for 32 years and worked on commercial projects throughout the city, ending his career as a superintendent of major projects. David loved the outdoors and being on the water, spending many days clamming, fishing, camping, and boating with friends and family. He loved sharing his appreciation of good food and fondness of sports with others.
David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gretchen Ann Grimes; children, Katherine Gail Ethridge, Todd Dwight Grimes, and Elizabeth Hoyt Grimes; grandchildren, David Lucas Ethridge, Kayley Grimes, Andrew Grant Fosgate and Rhyan Grimes; mother, Ellanora Grimes; sisters, Janice Cashon, Gail Lindquist, and Laurie McIntyre.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
