We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Stehn Family Chapels
Jerralee Louise McCreary, 86 years young, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2022.
Jerri was born on April 20th, 1936 in Anacortes, WA and later in life moved to Milwaukie. She graduated from Milwaukie High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree at Oregon State paving the way for career women. She was ahead of her time. After graduating she took her first job at Omark Industries and kicked started her career as an Executive Secretary.
Jerri fell in love and married, James Earl McCreary a Boat salesman, and he swept her off her feet. They have been fishing together ever since. They had two sons, Robert Scott McCreary and Timothy Arthur McCreary. They traveled to visit their grandchildren every year. While retired they traveled to many new places especially enjoying the cruise ship lifestyle.
Jerris’s husband, James Earl McCreary passed away November 1st, 2012. A few years later she found love and companionship in a sweet man, Joe Benson and enjoyed life together until he passed in 2020.
Jerri was full of life and energy. If you met her, you would never guess her age right because she always looked younger than she was. She enjoyed going out to breakfast or dinner with family or friends and didn’t like cooking at home much. Jerri loved going to the local Elks or American Legion meeting up with friends and having a glass of Johnny Walker red label on the rocks. She loved dancing even though she could never find a good partner. She was an active golfer and a world traveler. She visited Maui, one of her favorite places, almost every year. She was planning to visit Ireland most recently.
She was the best grandmother to Kelli, James, Robert and Nicholas and soon after became the best great-grandmother to Desiree, Emberlee, Mitchell, Lanieya, Kilana, and twins, Nalani and Neveya. You could see the greatest enjoyment on her face when visiting her great-grandchildren.
A Cemetery Service will be 10:30am, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Cemetery Portland, OR 97086.
Our hearts are broken, and our lives will never be the same without her.
