Robert “Bob” Stehn along
with his wife, Sandy founded the funeral home in 1977; moving to Milwaukie with
their three children, Julie Dowhaniuk, Mark Stehn and Tammy Steffens. They came
in with the notion of entrenching themselves into the area, so that when
someone entered the door, they were not just a person, but a member of their
community. They became involved with Milwaukie Masonic Lodge, Milwaukie Elks
Lodge, Al Kader Shriners, Order of the Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters and
various other community groups and events.
Mr. Stehn owned and
operated the funeral home until 2009, when Alzheimer’s caused him to
retire. He served over 4,000 families in
his 35 years of service to the community. He died in May of 2019, after having
been a part of the Milwaukie community for 42 years. The funeral home continues with his wife,
Sandy and their son, Mark.
Sandra “Sandy” Stehn
continues to own and operate the funeral home with her son, Mark. They continue to operate with the same
principals as when she and Robert opened the funeral home in 1977. Service is
the reason they started the funeral home and personal service is why we are
still here. With the goal that whatever someone's hopes are, we can essentially
"hold their hand" through the process and honor their dreams and
beliefs. Sandy, their son, Mark and our staff continue to maintain the
personal touch that makes us unique to the community and sets us above a more
corporate run funeral home and we continue to carry on the tradition of
encouraging all our staff to be involved with the Milwaukie community.
